Our mission is to advance the art of bonsai in North America through outreach and education. With the ABS Learning Seminars, we bring excellent material and exciting artists to venues across North America. Through our world-class publications, we provide in-depth instructional reports and motivational biographical articles to our member community. Our dedicated staff of volunteers conducts seminars and workshops at venues nationwide. We carefully steward and stretch every dollar to fund public exhibits and awards. This is wonderful, but it is expensive, and there are limited fundraising opportunities to help ABS achieve its goals.
That’s where you come in. Please consider making a generous donation to one of our two funds, the ABS Sponsorship Fund or the ABS Learning Seminar Underwriting Fund.
Please consider giving generously to ABS. Your gift will help ABS ensure the art of bonsai continues to thrive in North America. By helping us, you help yourself as ABS will provide free memberships, free tickets to the Learning Seminars, or even platform your organization in ABS publications, website, and social media outlets in recognition of your gift. Our financial team can help guide you and your financial advisor through the options for donating that are most consistent with your philanthropic goals. Rest assured that ABS’s staff of dedicated volunteers will stretch your donation dollars where they are needed most.
Sponsoring the American Bonsai Society
The ABS Sponsorship Fund is ABS’s general support fund. With a contribution to this fund, ABS can target your donation dollars exactly where they are needed most. We publish a quarterly journal with high-quality articles on all aspects of bonsai care. We publish a monthly newsletter disseminating timely news impacting the bonsai community. We sponsor teachers and students, conduct lectures and workshops, and underwrite exhibitions nationwide. Our staff of active and engaged volunteers works tirelessly to expand and improve the art of bonsai in North America. This is an expensive operation, but we strive to keep our costs low so our educational materials are accessible to as large an audience as possible. Your generous donation to this fund helps ABS maintain the high quality of services you’ve come to expect from us and ensure that the art of bonsai remains strong in North America.

Sponsoring the Learning Seminars
The ABS Learning Seminar Underwriting Fund supports both ABS and their partner organizations hosting the Learning Seminars, bringing high-quality bonsai and renowned artists across the country. In these events, ABS provides organizational resources and funding to a collaboration with local host clubs that may not ordinarily have the resources to host such an event. In doing so, we forge partnerships, build communities, and promote the art of bonsai across North America. However, these are costly events, especially with ABS’s commitment to maintaining the highest quality standards for both the artists and the art. Keeping these events affordable while meeting our fiduciary responsibilities to both ABS and our partner clubs is a tall order. You can help by sponsoring a workshop, seminar, banquet, or by underwriting the entire Learning Seminar. Your generous donation can offset some of the substantial costs, helping ABS keep prices low and attendance high.
